Our business, JAD Agriculture Pty Ltd, is operated across 1206 hectares (2985 acres), plus opportuntiy agistment, in Central West NSW. Our journey began when we purchased the 625ha (1545 acres) property, “Coolah”, in March, 2012.
We then began leasing neighbouring “Greenvale” in June, 2014 – following its purchase by Justin’s parents – with a five-year lease-to-purchase arrangement in place. This agreement was fast-tracked, with us purchasing this property in June, 2018. We live on “Greenvale”, which is an hour north of Orange and an hour south of Dubbo.
We cannot run a healthy business unless our land is healthy, and so we take a regenerative approach to land management. We are blessed to have country that is 95% arable, and we are undergoing extensive perennial pasture improvement. We are also nearly finished a major wire and water animals to enable high density rotational grazing. Our values ensure we have huge respect for our land and livestock, and we understand that our role as managers is to ensure their health and prosperity. If our land and livestock are not running at their optimum, then that will show in our business’ bottom line long-term.
