Maungahina Promise (MAU P194)
We purchased Maungahina Promise P194 (MAU P194) at the 2020 Maungahina Speckle Park Sale for NZD $35,000 – a New Zealand record for a Speckle Park bull. We saw Promise when we visited the McKenzie family in January 2020, and he was both Justin and Amy’s “pick” of the draft. We used him heavily in our 2020 joinings, with his first calves due here in August 2021. We saw Promise again when we visited New Zealand in June 2021, and look forward to using him heavily again in our 2021 joinings. He is an outstanding animal and will do the breed a lot of good!
Promise is by Maungahina Lawrin (MAU L272), who is a full brother to another Speckle Park sire that we have a lot of time for, in Premier 101Y Logic L11. We saw Lawrin when visiting Maungahina in 2017 and his dam, SPKNZ H2, is one of the breed greats. The maternal strength of Promise’s pedigree extends to his dam’s side. He is out of one of the Maungahina herd’s greatest females, in Falcon daughter, Maungahina J13. J13 is also the dam of Maungahina Nikko (MAU N264), a sire we purchased a 1/3 interest in at the 2019 Maungahina Sale.
Maungahina Promise P194 is white and does not carry the myostatin, red or horn genes, so he offers significant versatility. Look out for his first progeny at the 2023 JAD Speckle Park Sale!
