30+ at JAD’s Bred Well Fed Well Workshop

Sunday, February 16, 2020
We were thrilled to host highly-regarded educator, Dr Jason Trompf, and Chris Mirams, on February 14, for a Bred Well Fed Well Workshop. We first started working with Dr Trompf more than a decade ago, when Justin managed Kerin Poll Merino Stud, and so it was particularly special to cross paths once again and this time for a cattle workshop. JAD spreads its wings to Canada & NZ

Monday, December 30, 2019
When we established JAD Speckle Park, we elected to do so by importing the very best embryos we could source from Canada and New Zealand. This may be the more expensive route, however we wanted to access new and exclusive genetics that truly expressed our unique vision for the Australian beef industry and Speckle Park's role in it. We have that foundation herd in place now, and are strategically investing in live animals in New Zealand and Canada to add to this base. Continue reading

Trading on Tenderness

Saturday, June 2, 2018

JAD Speckle Park is proud to be the first Australian Speckle Park stud to begin genetic testing for key eating quality and production traits, through the Q-select system.

Hair samples from all of our 2017-drop calves were sent to Canada for Q-select testing at Quantum Genetix. Samples from our 2018-drop will be sent in the coming months.

We are going the extra mile to help our clients know more about the bulls they buy – and improve our own in-house decision-making – by having all cattle DNA tested in Canada through the Quantum Genetix Q-Select DNA Tests. We have had… Continue reading

Trips to Canada, NZ, strengthen genetic decisions

Friday, June 1, 2018
We have been committed to touring and researching Speckle Park stud herds across Canada and New Zealand to learn more about the breed, meet its people, and ensure we make the best possible decisions about genetics for the JAD Speckle Park herd. We visited Canada in 2016 (including Farmfair International) and 2017 (including Agribition), New Zealand in 2017 (Maungahina and Premier Cattle Co), and Justin went back to NZ in June, 2018. We will be back to Canada again later in 2018. These overseas trips will continue, allowing us to follow the progress of genetic families, make wiser decisions about genetics to bring into our herd, and strengthen relationships and friendships with Speckle Park breeders around the world.
