JAD spreads its wings to Canada & NZ

Monday, December 30, 2019

When we established JAD Speckle Park, we elected to do so by importing the very best embryos we could source from Canada and New Zealand. This may be the more expensive route, however we wanted to access new and exclusive genetics that truly expressed our unique vision for the Australian beef industry and Speckle Park’s role in it. We have that foundation herd in place now, and are strategically investing in live animals in New Zealand and Canada to add to this base.

We have learnt a awful lot since we first begun importing genetics in 2016, and are using that bank of knowledge to strategically invest in particular families to further enhance our program. We have established some terrific business relationships and lifelong friendships in Canada and New Zealand, and are grateful for these above all.
In June 2019, we invested in a one-third share in a new sire, Maungahina Nikko (pictured below), from the McKenzie family’s Maungahina stud in New Zealand. In December 2019, we purchased JSF Miss Sage 62F from Johner Stock Farm (JSF) in Canada.

62F (pictured above) is the second daughter we now own of JSF Miss Sage 19B. This heifer is due to calve in March, 2020, to JSF Creed 1F, and we are very much looking forward to introducing 62F’s genetics to Australia at a later date.

UPDATE: 62F produced a 33kg heifer calf on March 14. Born unassisted, and up and suckling within 20 minutes of birth. Justin Johner from Johner Stock Farm reports that 62F has an excellent udder and is proving a great mother.
